Paul wrote this first pastoral letter in the mid-60s AD while in Macedonia (Eastern Europe), to Timothy who he’d sent to Ephesus (modern-day Turkey). Although written privately to Timothy, it was read out publicly in front of the church in Ephesus at that time, and the letter is all about the ministry of the whole Christian church across all of time. So, it’s in God’s Bible, in the New Testament, as a teaching letter for churches just like ours. To instruct ministers, elders, and men and women like you, on how you will "know how people ought to conduct themselves in God’s household, which is the church of the living God, the pillar and foundation of the truth".
This is: A Family Letter; A Confronting Letter; and A ‘How To’ Letter.

Genesis? It’s the first book in the Bible. It means ‘the beginning’. And this term we’re taking a 10-episode journey through this book of beginnings.
What do you think when you hear ‘Genesis’? It might be creation. We see order from chaos, light from darkness, land and life from formless void. There’s the first human family, the first sin and much more ... Maybe when you hear ‘Genesis’, you think of the great flood: God’s judgement on the Human race. Perhaps you recall the Tower of Babel: the peak of arrogance of humankind.
Genesis is agonising. It’s full of abandonment and abuse, anxiety and anger, anguish and avoidance, barrenness and blaming. There’s childhood trauma, defensiveness and denial, emotional fusion, fear and famine, idolatry and judgement, lying and longing, manipulation and mocking, sibling rivalry and fakery, polygamy and playing favourites for example. Is there ANY hope for this world?
What is Genesis all about? Hope! If you need hope in your world, you need to journey through Genesis 12-35 with us this term, to see the hope of God’s blessings, through Abram and his dysfunctional family, to all the families of the earth. God decides not to give up on humanity but redeem it. God is transforming our relationships, promising blessing to the world through the agony of growing up in Abraham's family. This includes you and me. God, through Jesus Christ, is in the business of transforming us and our relationships.

Welcome to our series in the book of Daniel, called 'Living in Exile'. We welcome you to this 9-week journey together.
Daniel is an ancient book of the Old Testament. Its setting is around 600 years before Jesus walked this earth. It’s set not in Israel like many other books of the Bible, but in Babylon: the heartland of God’s enemies. In Daniel, God’s people are foreigners and exiles, living in a time of persecution.
Our big idea for this series is: Despite our fears in our apparent circumstances, God is in control. So, like Daniel, we can live wisely in a hostile world because of the victory of King Jesus.
As Christians we live this side of the resurrection of Jesus, almost 2000 years after he walked this earth, and we wait patiently for his return. In the meantime, God calls us to live wisely today as foreigners and exiles too. So, we have much to learn from the ancient wisdom of Daniel and his 3 friends.
A series of talks on the Psalms. Rev. Greg Fraser preaches from the Psalms for several weeks at the beginning and end of each calendar year.
