Frequently Asked Questions & Concerns

You may have some questions about Stanthorpe Presbyterian Church before you visit, and this FAQ may answer those questions.

If your question or concern is not answered here, please contact the minister or a church contact.

 • What denomination are you?

Stanthorpe Presbyterian Church is a member of the Presbyterian Church of Queensland.

 • What do you believe?

Our beliefs are outlined for you in the What We Believe statement on this site.

If you have any questions we would love to talk to you about this more.

 • What time are your services?

We meet each Sunday at 9:30am for our All Ages Worship service.

During the service, there will be an invitation for children to exit the main auditorium to go to another room where a Kid's Church is held by accredited and appropriately checked leaders.

 • How long are the services?

Our services last about 60 minutes. They have times of singing, Bible reading, prayer and teaching from the Bible. The teaching applies directly to our lives and is intended to give you a better understanding of who the God of the Bible really is, how you are able to get to know the one and only true God, and how you can live in a way that is pleasing to Him.

 • What might happen when I arrive?

As you enter the meeting area you'll be greeted and given directions. Other instructions and help may be given as the need arises.

 • Is there any parking space available?

There is adequate on-site parking available for cars and high vehicles. There is on-street parking if you prefer to park outside.

 • What do you do at your services?

The services usually begin with a welcome and some singing. We have a time of prayer, a Bible reading and a message to explain and apply the Bible's message to us.

Members may contribute tithes and offerings either electronically (details below) or in cash in a container near the entrance to the auditorium.

 • Will I be expected to give any money?

If you are visiting we do not expect that you should give any money.

However, if you want to that is entirely up to you.

 • Am I able to give money electronically?

Yes. Some members of the congregation already use electronic giving. The church bank account details are:

BSB: 064 431CommBiz Quick Deposit Code

Account: 10221157

If you would like to make a deposit anonymously, this Commonwealth Bank Deposit code may be downloaded, printed and used. Please be aware that the funds given using this method must be deposited on a CommBank Instant Deposit ATM.

 • Will I be expected to do anything?

No. It is not expected that you do anything when visiting our services (though many members stand together to sing). We would just love for you to come and join with us in worshipping God and joining in a social time over a cup of tea or coffee at morning tea.

 • What happens after a service?

At the end of the service we'd love for you to stay and join us for a coffee and refreshments in the rear hall. It's the perfect time for us to get to know each other better.

God designed his church to be a place where we can experience community and friendship, and we trust you will find genuine warmth and openness at Stanthorpe Presbyterian Church.

 • What should I wear?

You can wear whatever you feel comfortable in, though smart, modest, casual dress is the most common attire.

 • What if I don't know much about God?

At Stanthorpe Presbyterian Church, we want to make your visit a good one - easy, straightforward, and uncomplicated.

The songs we sing and the messages given are all designed to explain something from the Bible about our Heavenly Father, the God of Heaven. And if you would like to know more about God, the Bible or what we believe, please feel free to talk to the minister or one of the elders. A regular attendee should be able to identify them for you.

We are intentionally 'user-friendly' for people, no matter what their background.

 • Will I be singled out if I'm new?

Absolutely not. You are our guest. Each Sunday, there are people just like you who are visiting Stanthorpe Presbyterian Church for the first time.

Our goal is for you to have the best experience; you can feel free to be as anonymous as possible.

 • Do you have child safety policies and procedures?

The Stanthorpe Presbyterian Church adheres to policies and procedures of the Presbyterian Church of Queensland.

The Presbyterian Church of Queensland takes child protection and safety seriously and consequently has policies and procedures in place to ensure that children in our ministries receive the highest standards of care.

 • Do you have a Sunday School?

We hold a Kid's Church for children during the Sunday Service. The children are invited to attend the Kid's Church before the message is given for the adults.

The Kid's Church is held during school terms only.
